Per la cappella Bardi Giotto compose 6 scene tratte dalla vita di S. Francesco.
Anche in questi affreschi, la tridimensionalità dello spazio è molto marcata. John White nel suo libro intitolato The Birth and Rebirth of Pictorial Space scrive a questo proposito:
"The internal architectural perspective is coordinated with the viewpoint of the observer as he enters. The tentative experiments of Padua are perfected and complete coherence finally attained. [...] The experiment in the Bardi Chapel seems to be a phase in Giotto’s search for a method of creating a pictorial space in harmony with the pictorial surface, and not the first sign of a late style only matured in works that have been lost" (WHITE, 1967, p.72-76)
