Maria Rosa Cutrufelli

Writer and journalist, Maria Rosa Cutrufelli was born in Messina and lives in Rome. After studying literature, she now contributes to several literary magazines, and writes a variety of critical commentaries. She is the director of Tuttestorie, a magazine that focuses on narrative writing by women. She has authored numerous essays on the condition of women in society, including Il cliente - Inchiesta sulla domanda di prostituzione (1981). Mama Africa, a book of autobiographical memoirs, was published in 1989, and the novel La Briganta in 1990. With La donna che visse per un sogno (2004), which recounts the extraordinary life of the French woman Olympe de Gouge, she was among the finalists for the Strega Award. Her most recent book is the novel Complice il dubbio (2006).
